The ARO PortaFunnel™ – PortaStack Edition is a premium magnetic dosing funnel engineered to serve as the foundation of the ARO PortaStack system. It allows compatible puck-prep tools to dock magnetically on top of the funnel, making puck prep cleaner, more consistent, and more efficient. The funnel delivers an exceptionally strong magnetic hold to the portafilter basket while providing a dedicated docking interface for our other PortaStack tools. Each tool can be used independently, but when combined, they form a clean, integrated workflow built around the PortaFunnel.
Our most secure magnetic funnel yet, the PortaFunnel uses custom arc magnets integrated into the base and retained by a durable silicone band to create a firm, evenly distributed hold on compatible magnetic baskets. The result is stable, hands-free dosing and puck prep with no spilled grounds.
The polished anodized interior minimizes retention and wipes clean easily, while the contoured profile directs grounds straight into the basket with no spillover. The satin anodized exterior resists fingerprints, improves scratch resistance, and maintains a clean, professional appearance.
To support the PortaStack workflow, the funnel incorporates an embedded steel docking ring in the upper lip. This ring provides a magnetic target for compatible PortaStack tools, enabling precise alignment, secure attachment, and controlled one-handed operation. The PortaFunnel also functions as a standalone dosing funnel when used outside the PortaStack system.

Usage Instructions
The ARO PortaFunnel is designed to function as part of the PortaStack system or as a standalone dosing funnel. The steps below outline the recommended workflow.
- Attach to Basket: Place the funnel onto the portafilter basket. The magnets in the base will self-align on compatible magnetic baskets.
- Dose: Dock the ARO Shaker and dose grounds directly into the funnel, or use a dosing cup or grind directly into the funnel. The interior geometry directs grounds into the basket and keeps the rim clear.
- Distribute: Dock the ARO Orbit PRO distribution tool onto the funnel and spin to distribute, use a manual WDT tool, or proceed without distribution if desired.
- Tamp: Dock the ARO Tamper configured with the PortaStack-compatible sleeve and compact the grounds. Rotate slightly to polish the puck.
- Detach from Basket: To remove the funnel, tilt it from one side rather than pulling straight up. This breaks the magnetic seal and allows easy release.
Compatibility
The ARO PortaFunnel – PortaStack Edition is designed for a snug, secure fit on most 58mm and 54mm Breville/Sage portafilters. For best performance, it is intended for use with portafilter baskets that attract magnets. While the funnel is engineered to work even with weaker magnetic baskets, some baskets do not attract magnets at all. Please confirm that your basket has at least a small amount of magnetic pull before use.
The 54mm PortaFunnel is designed specifically for 54mm Breville/Sage baskets. If you plan to use it with a different portafilter or basket, measure your basket and compare it to the sizing table below to confirm compatibility.
Please note: the 54mm PortaFunnel is not hands-free compatible with the built-in grinder cradles on the Breville/Sage Barista Express, Barista Pro, Barista Touch, or with the Breville/Sage Smart Grinder Pro. For best results, use a portafilter stand, a separate grinder, or hold the portafilter under the grinder chute during dosing.

Care and Maintenance
Brush off loose grounds after use or wipe clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth. The polished interior is designed to wipe clean easily. Hand wash with mild soap and lukewarm water if needed. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely before use. Not dishwasher safe.
