How to Replace the Gears on the ARO Orbit PRO

Replacing or upgrading your ARO Orbit PRO gears is quick and straightforward. Every kit includes everything you need to complete the swap. This includes a jig to orient and position the gears, an Allen wrench for removing and tightening the screws, and all necessary hardware pre-installed within each gear. Follow the steps below to get started.

Tools required:
1.5 mm hex key (included)
Gear Orientation Jig (included)

Step 1: Orient the gears correctly in the jig (they come pre-installed in the correct positions within the jig. If they fall out during handling, use the following guide to reposition them correctly):

  • Place the large gear in the jig first. Ensure the arm with the single hole near its end is facing "up".
  • Place the medium size gear in next and ensure the arm with the hole set back furthest from the edge is facing "up"
  • Make sure the jig is oriented so the smallest gear is on the right-hand side once placed.

Step 2: Insert the jig and gears.

  • Carefully place all three gears and the jig into the ring gear housing.
  • Ensure the gear teeth and center holes are properly aligned.
  • The jig should guide each gear into its correct position.

Step 3: Tighten the screws.

  • Use the 1.5 mm hex key to tighten the screws through the center of each gear.
  • Important: Do not overtighten. If the gears don’t spin freely, back off the screws by one-quarter to one-half turn until they move smoothly.

Step 4: Once everything is aligned and the gears spin smoothly, remove the jig. The assembly is now complete.
